Join us in the Power of Spiritual Community

In Matthew 18:20, Jesus tells us, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” This simple yet profound statement reminds us of the transformative power of spiritual community. When we come together in food, faith, love, and shared purpose, we create a sacred space where God’s presence is felt, and our spiritual growth is magnified. In Unity, we recognize that we are all interconnected, each of us a divine expression of God. Our journey through life is not meant to be walked alone. Rather, we thrive when we surround ourselves with likeminded individuals who uplift and inspire us. Being part of a spiritual community nurtures our faith, deepens our understanding, and provides the loving support we need to navigate life’s challenges.

The Apostle Paul encouraged believers to support one another, writing in Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… but encouraging one another.” In a spiritual community, we find encouragement in times of doubt, strength in times of weakness, and joy in times of celebration. When we join together in prayer, study, and service, we amplify our spiritual energy. Unity teaches that our thoughts and consciousness shape our experiences. Imagine the collective power of an entire community focused on love, peace, and divine wisdom! Together, we create a ripple effect that extends far beyond our immediate circle, blessing not only our own lives but also the world around us.

One of the greatest gifts of spiritual community is the sense of belonging it offers. We all desire connection—a place where we are seen, heard, and valued. In a world that often emphasizes division, our church serves as a sanctuary of unity and inclusion, reflecting the truth that we are all one in Spirit. As Jesus demonstrated throughout his ministry, love is the foundation of spiritual connection. He welcomed all, shared meals with those society rejected, and taught that the greatest commandment is to love one another (John 13:34-35). In the same way, when we come together with open hearts, we create an environment where everyone feels safe to express their authentic selves and grow in their faith.

This Sunday we are holding our quarterly brunch buffet celebration created by Chef Kathleen as part of our Sunday service. We begin with an abbreviated service and then enjoy conversation and family fellowship as we enjoy our brunch meal. After our family meal, we will segue into our annual church meeting that is held, according to our by-laws, on the 3rd Sunday in February. Randy Koehler, our 2024 board president, will open the meeting and then facilitate a recap of 2024 events and financial information, and then have a look at 2025. There are two openings on our board for 2025 and we will nominate and then vote on new board members for the coming year. Since Rev. Robert and Madelyn are retiring in March, we will also talk about our new office location and the planning that we are anticipating in 2025. Our annual meeting is open to all. Only members are able to vote on church matters.

We also will happily welcome four new members into our wonderful community so make sure you are here to give each of them a welcoming hug (or handshake if that is more comfortable).

Every person in a spiritual community has a role to play. Paul describes this beautifully in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, comparing the body of Christ to a human body—each part with its own function, yet all essential to the whole. In our church family, we are called to contribute our unique talents and abilities in service to God and each other. Whether through volunteering, teaching, singing, or simply offering a kind word, each act of love strengthens our community and fulfills our divine purpose. As we continue to grow together in faith, let us cherish and nurture the relationships we have formed. By participating in our church community with open hearts and minds, we cultivate a space where divine love flows freely, and miracles unfold.

I Love You
