Our Thoughts and Beliefs Create the World We Live In

Our thoughts and beliefs wield extraordinary influence over our well-being and the lives of those around us. Jesus said, "According to your faith let it be done to you" (Matthew 9:29). This profound statement invites us to consider how our inner convictions shape not only our reality but also the world we share with others

From a spiritual perspective, thought is a creative force. Unity teachings emphasize that the mind is the bridge between divine truth and human experience. As we hold thoughts aligned with love, wholeness, and harmony, we open channels for healing energy to flow into our lives and relationships. Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, wrote, “Faith is the perceiving power of the mind linked with the power to shape substance.” This highlights our ability to transform the unseen energy of belief into tangible outcomes in the world of our actual experiences.

Science increasingly supports these spiritual truths. The placebo effect is one striking example: individuals experience healing simply because they believe they are receiving treatment. This demonstrates the profound connection between the mind and the body, affirming the biblical principle, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7).

But what about the effects of our thoughts on others? A Course of Love teaches that our shared essence connects us to one another. When we extend love through our thoughts and beliefs, we contribute to the healing of the collective. The Course reminds us: “Only love creates, and only like itself.” Negative or fear-based thoughts, on the other hand, can perpetuate harm, as they create separation instead of unity.

Healing begins in the mind, yet its effects ripple outward. When we affirm our wholeness and embrace thoughts of love, we create a healing presence in the Universe. Unity encourages us to use affirmations and denials—tools that help us dismantle limiting beliefs and affirm divine truths. By denying the power of illness or discord and affirming health, love, and peace, we align ourselves with the universal laws of healing.

Consider this: what would our world look like if we consistently thought healing thoughts, not only for ourselves but for all humanity? Imagine the collective power of faith-filled minds envisioning a world of harmony, abundance, and joy. Such a vision aligns with Jesus’ commandment to “love one another” (John 13:34). This love begins in thought and radiates outward, touching all who dwell in the Universe.

Remember, healing is not a distant miracle—it is a present reality shaped by the power of your thoughts and beliefs. By choosing thoughts aligned with love and truth, we activate the divine potential within us, becoming vessels for healing in the world.

Let us hold this truth during this time of Thanksgiving: God’s healing love flows through us, uplifting and renewing all who are touched by its presence. Together, through the power of our thoughts and beliefs, we co-create a world of health, peace, abundance and joy.

Love,

Rev. Robert
