The Time for New Beginnings

As we step into the first days of this new year, we are reminded that life is a continuous cycle of endings and beginnings. Each day, each season, and each phase of our lives presents an opportunity to start anew. Each new challenge invites us to open our hearts and minds to the divine activity constantly at work in our lives. God is always creating, renewing, and transforming. When we align ourselves with this truth, we become co-creators in the divine process, allowing new possibilities to emerge.

New beginnings often require us to release what no longer serves us. This principle is echoed in Unity teachings, which emphasize the power of letting go. Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, taught that by releasing limiting thoughts and beliefs, we make space for the divine to express more fully through us. Forgiveness and release are not just about others; it is also about forgiving ourselves for past mistakes and perceived failures. By doing so, we free ourselves to move forward with a clean slate, ready to embrace the new.

Starting anew can be daunting, but we are never alone. Unity reminds us that the Christ within is our source of strength, wisdom, and guidance. In Psalm 37:5, we are encouraged: “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act." When we trust the divine process, we can step into new beginnings with confidence, knowing that we are supported by a loving and infinite Presence. This trust allows us to take bold steps, even when the path ahead is unclear. Clarity occurs when we spend quiet time in prayer and quietly ask for guidance and then act.

Unity emphasizes the power of intention in shaping our lives. Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, believed that our thoughts and intentions are seeds planted in the soil of divine mind. When nurtured with faith and action, these seeds grow into the reality we desire. Proverbs 16:3 advises, "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” As we embark on new beginnings, let us set clear and positive intentions, affirming that divine order is at work in every aspect of our lives.

Finally, new beginnings call us to be fully present. Jesus taught, "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:34). By focusing on the present moment, the ever present now, we can fully engage with the opportunities and blessings before us. Unity encourages us to practice mindfulness and gratitude, recognizing that the present is where the divine unfolds.

As we embrace this time of new beginnings, let us remember that each moment is a gift. Whether we are starting a new project, entering a new relationship, stepping into a new opportunity in life or simply seeking a fresh perspective, we are supported by the infinite love and wisdom of God. May this time of renewal fill your heart with hope, your mind with clarity, and your spirit with peace. Together, let us step boldly into the new, knowing that God is doing a new thing in and through us.
