Unity was founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in 1889 as a healing, prayer and spiritual organization. Approximately a century later, their great granddaughter, Connie Fillmore, who was president of the organization at that time created and published five basic Unity Principles as an attempt to explain the spiritual philosophies shared by Unity.
The first Principle that we are going to look at today is: “There is only one Presence and Power active as the Universe and as my life, God the Good.” This is a different concept for us to embrace. We see everything as separate and different. It has been only recently that Quantum Physics has identified that our material world is made up of energy at different rates of vibration and brought together as matter through the thought energies of human.
Spiritual teachers from ancient history were trying to tell us about this idea. The Apostle Paul told us in 1 Corinthians 8:6 that “there is one God, the Father from whom all things came and for whom we live.” Jesus told us that everything we were looking for was already within us in Luke 17:21.
This is a spiritual concept that is the first step of opening to and embracing a new life. There is only One Power and Presence active in the universe. Anything else is an illusion created by the energies of our thoughts believing that there is something else other than God the Good. This is a big step to make beyond the negative thinking that we have been trained to believe by the ego mind as a “normal outcome in life.”
Did you ever notice that when anything happens, you are there in the middle of the struggle? Did you ever notice that there are others that seem to make life work without a lot of apparent struggles? Maybe they have just learned a new way of thinking about life and were trained in an attitude of love, peace and trust.
This really is a journey to the promised land of love, peace and harmony that begins with the simple concept of accepting that God is everywhere present, and we can transform ourselves just by learning a spiritual way of thinking. The outcome for our individual lives depends on our individual willingness to do the work and know that “There Is One Power and Presence” and we can each learn to release it into our lives.
I Love you...
