We Align Our Heart-mind with God

In the turmoil of our daily lives, finding moments of stillness can be difficult. Yet, it is within these moments in the stillness that we can learn to experience a connection with the Divine. The fourth Unity Principle states, "Through prayer and meditation, we align our heart-mind with God." This principle invites us to create a new approach to how we live life to experience and sustain a deeper relationship with God, one that transforms our inner world of consciousness and, consequently, our outer experience of life.

Prayer and meditation are ancient practices found in many spiritual traditions that open a path available to us that when learned and made part of our lives, can return us to our Divine heritage as Children of God. We can realize a personal mentorship with the Ultimate Source of the Universe when we learn the skills that help us surmount the gap that we perceive in our physical presence in the body and the divine that we truly are.

Prayer is not just about asking for things; it is about seeking God's presence and aligning our will with His. In Philippians 4:6, we are reminded, "Do not worry over things, but always by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”  This passage highlights the wonderful power of prayer, bringing peace to our hearts and minds as we trust in God.

Meditation, on the other hand, involves quieting our minds and turning inward to experience God's presence. While the Bible may not use the term "meditation" as we understand it today, it frequently encourages contemplation and reflection on God's word. Psalm 1:2 speaks of the blessed person whose "delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night."

Meditation allows us to become still and receptive to the gentle energy of the Holy Spirit. In the stillness, we can hear God's guidance and feel His love more profoundly. As Psalm 46:10 instructs, "Be still, and know that I am God." We are invited to pause and recognize God's everlasting Love, fostering a deep sense of trust and surrender.

When we engage in prayer and meditation, we create a sacred space within our hearts where God's presence can dwell. This alignment of our heart-mind with God transforms our inner wiring, influencing our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Romans 12:2 encourages us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

To cultivate a practice of prayer and meditation, consider setting aside dedicated time each day. Begin with a simple prayer, expressing your thoughts and desires to God. Follow this with a period of meditation, focusing on a scripture verse or simply sitting in silent receptivity to God's presence.

Please understand that the process takes time. Your mind has been trained to listen to the ego’s way of doing things. Spirit has a different language and delivery. We must learn a new way of doing things. New habits and understandings must take place and the old ways let go. Start and don’t stop! The Kingdom is already there.

I Love you...
