This Sunday is the first Sunday in April, the day that we are celebrating with a brief service and then talking and enjoying a brunch with each other. This day is also Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week that celebrates the triumphal entry of Jesus, riding on a donkey, into Jerusalem.
The Jewish crowds were welcoming what they believed was the prophet of Galilee, son of David and the Messiah. As we now know, the jubilation of that Palm Sunday turned into the crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday and the resurrection that we celebrate on Easter Sunday (next week).
It is fitting that we celebrate each other this Sunday. We do so by getting to know each other as we symbolically break bread with each other and enter a dialogue of patient sharing and listening between the faces of God that we each represent.
We are all on a journey back to the Father’s house. Each one of us has a wonderful story to tell about our individual journey. We are surrounded by people with stories of love, triumph, success, difficulties overcome, adventure, and challenges. Each of us is the Christ with wonderful things that we have accomplished and waiting for someone to ask us a question that opens up the channel of communication that allows us to share it.
Listening in love is the skill that we are eliciting. It is amazing what we learn about our human brothers and sisters when we ask a leading question and then quietly listen to them express their heart through open dialogue. If we really understand what this process is, we realize that we are celebrating the Inner Power that we are and supporting each other in entering the city of Jerusalem which metaphysically is the “Spiritual Center of Consciousness.” You might want to consider the dialogue we are discussing as “Divinity talking to Divinity.”
The world wonders why we can’t get along. I think it is pretty simple. We have lost our ability to ask questions and listen quietly with love and non-judgement. This is the main idea in the suggestion by Jesus to love our neighbor. It is amazing what we can learn from them when we practice this principle.
Come join us as we love our neighbors, friends and fellow community members at Sunday brunch.
I Love you...
