This title is a quote by Jesus from John 13:34 that I admit to editing to make it generic in nature. Another quote of Jesus from Mt. 22:36-39 when Jesus was asked, what is the greatest commandment in the law? “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might and with all your mind” ………. and the second is like to it, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
This is a tall request in today’s cultural wars, political wars and even actual military wars. It is difficult for our human nature to love unconditionally that which we feel is wrong, misguided, incorrect or even in violation of our human rights. How can we love, no matter what?
Eric Butterworth gives us some ideas from a recent booklet of his work from Unity World Headquarters when he says, “You are nothing more nor less than God expressing as you.” He goes on to say that “Man is not an individual in God……Man is an individualization of God.”
We know that Love is the language of God and anything other than Love in our thoughts, words and actions is fear. Fear, in its many forms, is the adverse force that creates separation. These forces of separation are the forces that keep us apart and foster the polarization that we are experiencing in our material world. If we can draw back and look at what is happening, I believe, we can see that these adverse forces are creating this separation by creating these attitudes of right and wrong, good and evil, and other beliefs that bifurcate our society into polarized groups that are ready to fight for their picture of the material world.
Back to our title. As a child of God, we create our own world through our own thoughts, words and actions. A Course of Love in D,2:19 says “All systems have been based upon your desire to understand the world around you rather than the world within you. If you were to understand the world within. You would need no systems to understand or manage the world without.”
This is what Jesus was saying to us when he said that the Kingdom of Heaven (everything we are looking for) is already within us. And, the law is to love God, ourselves, our neighbors and everything in our personal world because we created it. When we allow the adverse forces to attack that world, we begin the cycle of struggle, disharmony, and contention.
The language of love is what brings us joy, harmony, peace, abundance, health and all the other gifts of Spirit. This is how the law of attraction works. We create Love through Love. Simple counterintuitive ‘Spiritual Principles’ that really work when we apply them. Join with us as we support each other as we travel this path back to the Father’s House.
I love you,
