This is a famous quote from Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor and philosopher from 161 to 180. He is considered one of the last good emperors of Rome before the decline of the Roman Empire in the second and third centuries.
The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:12, “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit that is from God, that we may understand the gifts that are given to us by God.” I believe that Paul is referring to the spirit of the world as the ravages of fear, worry, lack and all the other things that keep us from living the life of peace harmony and abundance that is our divine right as a child of God. A basic understanding of the law of attraction tells us that we experience what we think about and talk about. This would mean that we are not influenced by the events in our lives, we are influenced by how we react to the events and how we think about them.
So, within us is the ability to change our thinking and stop obsessing, crying, and projecting fault to events and situations that we blame for our failures and short comings in life. The simple quote from Marcus Aurelius over 2000 years ago opens us to a new idea. We can learn to control our thoughts and realize that we cannot control the events that occur in our lives, but we can control how we react to them and respond to them. This is also learning how to create the space in our lives to let Spirit solve them for us without struggle.
We are powerful human beings capable of amazing things. We can learn how to let go and let God do the work. It starts with learning the process of changing your thoughts. In our Sunday message we will begin that process and open some channels to the gifts we have been given as a child of God. They are there. It is up to us to find them.
I Love you...
